Xigmatek Bifrost VD1065 VGA Cooler

Modding BIOS’, overclocking and Folding@Home; what do they all have in common? In some sense they are all great ways to overwhelm a stock cooler and desire the quest for a quality, more efficient cooler. Along the way you will run across the few I have already reviewed, and many, many others. My goal is to help to narrow the highway of coolers flying by you as you search the web and make it more of a leisurely cruise down a scenic trail.

Xigmatek sends us another solution to just such a quest to improve the cooling of your precious graphics card. I’m not exactly certain how it all came about, but this cooler is one I believe I may have seen before, in some fashion. Xigmatek, however, added their own flair, special touches and changed little things. It is, in its purist form very similar to the SilenX cooler I looked at back in February. Hopefully things have changed since then.

Today we are looking at the Bifrost VD1065 from Xigmatek. They have provided me with a dual fan cooling solution that I may, or may not have seen before. I need to get some pictures and get myself a closer look to see what the Bifrost can offer end users in the pursuit of a better cooling solution. Let’s see of the Bifrost can handle the overclocks and possible long hours of dedicated Folding.

Antec Mini Skeleton-90 Open Air Mini-ITX Case

I have had many long hours inside of Antec cases, starting off with my 900. From what I have seen with Antec chassis’ in my short time here, is that air flow is key in their concepts. The 900, while a bit loud, had and still has some of the best chassis air flow money can buy. Even their open air chassis incorporated a large top fan and additional fans to keep components cool even without sides. This brings us to why I’m here today.

Back in May we looked at the Antec Skeleton and I was quite pleased with what Antec was offering in their uniquely designed open air chassis. I loved the concept and using and installing components in it was a breeze. The top mounted fan worked wonders for keeping RAM and chipset coolers full of cool air flow, greatly reducing the ambient air the motherboard sat in. the biggest complaint I had then was head room for CPU coolers. Let’s see what they have come up with this time.

Today we are looking at the Mini Skeleton-90 from Antec. This version is a mITX compatible, sized down model of the Skeleton I previously reviewed. Since things were so easy and pleasurable to use the first time around, I don’t expect many issues, aside from cooler clearances. Enough with what I expect, let’s get to the images and let the product speak for itself!

Seagate To Ship 1-Terabyte Hard Drive

Seagate yesterday told a news organization that it would ship the world's first-ever a 1 TERABYTE HARD DRIVE within the next six months. The largest hard drive to ship to date is 750 gigabytes. The 1-terabyte Barracuda hard drive will use perpendicular recording technology. Seagate has not announced pricing.

Game System Adds Fans to "Blow Gamers"

The new gaming system from Philips, which includes "two desk fans which blow at different intensity levels depending on what's happening in the game" is cool enough. But I'm a little leery about THIS UNFORTUNATE HEADLINE.

Rosewill FORT 120 / RCX-SHDT120X1 CPU Cooler

Introduction

Rosewill is a relatively fresh manufacturer to enter the computer component market. They encompass everything from cases, to power supply units, to fans and coolers. From what I have gathered, Rosewill is Newegg’s "house brand" with a goal to provide quality parts at a reasonable price. Above all, Rosewill’s main objective is to keep their customers happy. As a consumer myself, I am glad to see an upstart company striving to please the customer versus making the all mighty dollar first.

Rosewill has released their largest CPU cooler and have submitted this FORT 120 to our labs for testing. This is a tower style cooler and Rosewill’s first cooler to be cooled with a 120mm fan. They, however, don’t stop there. The FORT 120 holds a few tricks up its sleeve, such as heatpipes that make direct contact to the HIS and also something Rosewill calls "Stonehenge Technology" which I will show you a bit later.

Since this is my first time with a Rosewill product I am intrigued to say the least to see what they have in store for us. I have read many posts on various forums about the Rosewill product line and this time I get to see for myself what they are all about. From a brief examination of the FORT 120, it shows promise with the design, but let’s get down to business and see what Rosewill has with their freshly released FORT 120 / RCX-SHDT120X1 CPU cooler.
