Xigmatek Bifrost VD1065 VGA Cooler

Modding BIOS’, overclocking and Folding@Home; what do they all have in common? In some sense they are all great ways to overwhelm a stock cooler and desire the quest for a quality, more efficient cooler. Along the way you will run across the few I have already reviewed, and many, many others. My goal is to help to narrow the highway of coolers flying by you as you search the web and make it more of a leisurely cruise down a scenic trail.

Xigmatek sends us another solution to just such a quest to improve the cooling of your precious graphics card. I’m not exactly certain how it all came about, but this cooler is one I believe I may have seen before, in some fashion. Xigmatek, however, added their own flair, special touches and changed little things. It is, in its purist form very similar to the SilenX cooler I looked at back in February. Hopefully things have changed since then.

Today we are looking at the Bifrost VD1065 from Xigmatek. They have provided me with a dual fan cooling solution that I may, or may not have seen before. I need to get some pictures and get myself a closer look to see what the Bifrost can offer end users in the pursuit of a better cooling solution. Let’s see of the Bifrost can handle the overclocks and possible long hours of dedicated Folding.

Antec Mini Skeleton-90 Open Air Mini-ITX Case

I have had many long hours inside of Antec cases, starting off with my 900. From what I have seen with Antec chassis’ in my short time here, is that air flow is key in their concepts. The 900, while a bit loud, had and still has some of the best chassis air flow money can buy. Even their open air chassis incorporated a large top fan and additional fans to keep components cool even without sides. This brings us to why I’m here today.

Back in May we looked at the Antec Skeleton and I was quite pleased with what Antec was offering in their uniquely designed open air chassis. I loved the concept and using and installing components in it was a breeze. The top mounted fan worked wonders for keeping RAM and chipset coolers full of cool air flow, greatly reducing the ambient air the motherboard sat in. the biggest complaint I had then was head room for CPU coolers. Let’s see what they have come up with this time.

Today we are looking at the Mini Skeleton-90 from Antec. This version is a mITX compatible, sized down model of the Skeleton I previously reviewed. Since things were so easy and pleasurable to use the first time around, I don’t expect many issues, aside from cooler clearances. Enough with what I expect, let’s get to the images and let the product speak for itself!

Game System Adds Fans to "Blow Gamers"

The new gaming system from Philips, which includes "two desk fans which blow at different intensity levels depending on what's happening in the game" is cool enough. But I'm a little leery about THIS UNFORTUNATE HEADLINE.

Rosewill FORT 120 / RCX-SHDT120X1 CPU Cooler

Introduction

Rosewill is a relatively fresh manufacturer to enter the computer component market. They encompass everything from cases, to power supply units, to fans and coolers. From what I have gathered, Rosewill is Newegg’s "house brand" with a goal to provide quality parts at a reasonable price. Above all, Rosewill’s main objective is to keep their customers happy. As a consumer myself, I am glad to see an upstart company striving to please the customer versus making the all mighty dollar first.

Rosewill has released their largest CPU cooler and have submitted this FORT 120 to our labs for testing. This is a tower style cooler and Rosewill’s first cooler to be cooled with a 120mm fan. They, however, don’t stop there. The FORT 120 holds a few tricks up its sleeve, such as heatpipes that make direct contact to the HIS and also something Rosewill calls "Stonehenge Technology" which I will show you a bit later.

Since this is my first time with a Rosewill product I am intrigued to say the least to see what they have in store for us. I have read many posts on various forums about the Rosewill product line and this time I get to see for myself what they are all about. From a brief examination of the FORT 120, it shows promise with the design, but let’s get down to business and see what Rosewill has with their freshly released FORT 120 / RCX-SHDT120X1 CPU cooler.

NZXT Zero 2 Full Tower Chassis

Introduction

My last review of a case was a bit on the small side and slightly frustrating when trying to add all the pieces into that puzzle. That’s the good thing about what I do, though. Never fear, as something different is just around the corner. This time around, it just so happens to be a full tower case from NZXT; the Zero 2, that is up for discussion.

In the past five years NZXT has started from a fledgling company, into a name that most gamers and enthusiasts recognize. These people are who NZXT strives to please by using ideas of the masses to incorporate better ideas and technologies into their products. Now, NZXT released the Zero in their Crafted series some time ago, but they have stepped it up and tweaked the original proven plan into something hopefully better. I hadn’t had the opportunity to review the Zero, as it was released before my joining the team here at TweakTown, but I have looked at the predecessor to what I have for you here today; The Zero 2 Ultimate Cooling Chassis.

Looking at the Zero 2’s box makes me want to tear into it and see what she has to offer. NZXT has done a nice job of presentation. The box has a very clear image of the case, which I personally find sleek and sexy. The other thing is the listed specs that are all over the packaging. I’m really interested to see just how NZXT gets all the included fans and the amount of bays inside without interfering with the airflow. This case is badged as the "Ultimate Cooling Chassis", so I am very interested to see how they accomplish this.

New Gaming Console To Hit Brazil

Brazil doesn't immediately jump to mind as a hotspot for gaming. Still, people have to keep themselves entertained somehow.

A new videogame console, aimed at middle class folks who find may have found gaming previously unaffordable, is set to hit the Brazil gaming market. Brazilian electronics entertainment company TecToy will be producing the gaming system, called Zeebo , next year.

Zeebo is expected to launch in Brazil next July for $599 (the equivalent of about $250 USD). Instead of utilizing discs or cartridges, the system will remain connected to a free, 3G network, and all of the games will be downloadable for between $10 and $30. Three of the four titles to come pre-installed on the system include Action Hero 3D, Evil Prey, and Quake. A total of 50 games are expected to be available by the end of next year. The digital only-delivery format is expected to cut down on software piracy, since the games cannot be copied.

According to its producers, the console is not meant to compete with the higher powered Xbox 360, PS3, and Nintendo Wii. It will instead meet the needs of an emerging market niche of individuals who cold not previously afford pricey games or gaming systems. Hell, it's no Gears of War 2, but game on Brazil!.

Hands on: Logitech Speaker System Z323

Good speaker systems are hard to find. Especially if you want a small form, with big sound. And bass is usually disappointing in these small systems. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been disappointed with speakers that don’t deliver. So I decided to give Logitech’s Z323 a try.

These speakers are acoustically engineered to project audio evenly in all directions, not just one. The idea is that you hear the full range of sound throughout a room. Another interesting feature is the down-firing woofer designed to deliver rich, deep bass. The two satellite speakers claim to produce warm mid-range tones and crisp high notes. You can plug in your Logitech Squeezebox, gaming console, iPod or DVD player. So what did we think of the Z323? Read on.

Hanwang's handwriting recognition mouse one-ups Chinese keyboard

It's tough enough to peck and hunt when you've only got 26 or so primary characters to fool around with, but trying to construct something meaningful in Chinese just has to be a tad more complex than we'd like to imagine. Hanwang's latest mouse is looking to ease the pain suffered while penning an email with wildly elaborate characters by offering a more natural approach to keying in text, as built-in top-mounted screen accepts handwritten input via the integrated stylus (seen after the jump). As expected, users can actually write characters on the LCD rather than typing it in, presumably making things a bit easier on those who'd rather handle a writing utensil than fight with a keyboard. No word on pricing or availability just yet, but we're still not entirely convinced a mouse-sized panel would be classified as "convenient" when trying to pen a dissertation.

1TB Black Passive eSata / USB External Hard Disk Drive 1000GB HDD HD e SATA

Product DescriptionChoosing the right external disk drive is not easy, especially if you don't exactly know what you're looking for. There are so many products that look alike, and price seems to be the only obvious differentiator. Yet differences can be found when it comes to reliability and build quality. We urge people with important or expensive data to consider spending a little extra on a higher quality passive unit. Passive drives offer several advantages over fan cooled models - they are completely sealed so will never collect internal dust or be damaged from a liquid spill. They are also SILENT in operation and used in sound recording studio's for this reason. Fans can become louder over time and will eventually need to be cleaned or replaced. eSata allows your computer direct access to the Sata disk drive without any bottleneck (caused by usb/firewire "Bridging" chips.) The disk drive will perform exactly the same as a Sata disk installed inside your PC case (almost 3 times the speed of USB2.) The eSata cable supplied with this product meets the standard eSata specification by using a heavy duty connector designed for external use. It's similar to the regular SATA connector, but with reinforcements in both the male and female sides. It's harder to unplug and can withstand a cable being yanked or wiggled. The newer model has better contrast ratio and therefore produces better image quality. Viewing angle is slightly better, more stylish design and power consumption is lower than the W1942T. So, what’s good about the W1942T? More workspace and additional DVI-D connector. From the comparison, we know that the LG W1943S is a 16:9 ratio screen and the LG W1942T is a 16:10 ratio screen.

Which to choose? It all boils down to personal preference really. If you use the monitor mainly for work purpose then go for the W1942T because of the extra workspace. If you watch a lot of movies, then go for the W1943S. On the LG official website, the 16:9 marketing pitch is quite misleading especially for someone who is a newbie. The black bars on a 16:10 monitor does not block part of a movie like that. Forgo some workspace and get better image quality on the W1943S. Choose more workspace and get slightly lower image quality on the W1942T.
